Let your guests guess what is in your cocktail - are they guessing chocolate, there is a pretty good reason...even though there is no chocolate in it !
Crazy about filled chocolates? Then Sublime Moment could be something for you! By mixing gin, vanilla sugar syrup and freshly squeezed pink grapefruit juice, you get clear tasting notes of chocolate – without using chocolates! Gin professor Sam Carter from Bombay Sapphire calls this process for Transmorgrification, which is the process when mixing some ingredientses creates the taste of a completely new ingredient. The drink is sweet and fresh and very intense. You can add a splash of water if you want to tone the drink down a bit.
Try it and see if you agree – at least it is a good excuse for making a lovely Gin cocktail and a great conversation topic !
This is what you need:
5 cl gin
2,5 cl freshly squeezed pink grapefruit juice
1,5 cl vanilla sugar syrup
Pour 5 cl gin, 2,5 cl freshly squeezed pink grapefruit juice and 1,5 cl vanilla sugar syrup in your shaker – add a lot of ice and shake for 20-25 seconds. Use your strainer and pour it into a chilled cocktail glass. Vanilla sugar syrup is super easy to make: Put 250 gram white sugar into a pan together with 2,5 dl of water and a vanilla pod that you have split and scraped the seeds out of and put into the pan. Bring it up to boil and stir gently until the sugar is dissolved and then add an additional 250 gram of white sugar. Boil for about 3-5 minutes and let the syrup cool of for about 3 hours so the vanilla can infuse the syrup. Strain it through a sieve and you are ready to make your Sublime Moment. Enjoy !
